Make the space work

Layout and spatial planning that makes every room work harder

Spatial planning decides how your home flows before a single wall moves. We review your floor plans, analyse how you use each space and rework the layout — from new furniture plans to relocated kitchens, utility rooms, WCs or walls removed — so the house fits your life instead of fighting it.

Why it’s worth it

What layout & spatial planning gives you

In short: Spatial planning is the analysis and design of a floor plan — circulation, furniture layout, storage and room use — to make a home function well before decoration begins.

  • Avoid moving house

Smart planning and storage can make the house you have work for the family you are becoming — as our Crouch End clients found.

  • Add value

A reworked footprint can add a bedroom, utility or WC. Our Queen’s Park flat gained an extra bedroom.

  • Brief your architect and builder clearly

Clear plans and elevations mean fewer surprises on site and better quotes.

  • Better daily flow

From a cluster of small, dark rooms to spaces that connect, as in our Dollis Hill Estate project.

The process

How it works, step by step

  1. 01

    Getting to know you

A paid initial consultation to talk through your ideas, inspiration and goals, followed by a detailed brief and an estimate proposal covering budget, time and design fee.

  2. 02

    Design direction

Mood boards, sketches and concept presentations set the direction. Your feedback shapes each round until the concept feels right.

  3. 03

    Detailed design

Supplier and trade meetings, space planning, material and fabric samples, a fully itemised FF&E sourcing list and detailed drawings — plans, elevations and, where useful, 3D visuals.

  4. 04

    Delivery

Project co-ordination, regular site visits, procurement, deliveries and installation — then final styling and the reveal.

“Lisa navigated us through the whole process so well, translating our fledgling wishes into stylish reality, reconfiguring spaces in ways we couldn’t have imagined, and making them perfect for our family life.”

Questions

Layout & Spatial Planning: FAQs

More answers on our FAQ page

When should I involve an interior designer in a renovation?

As early as possible — ideally alongside your architect, before the layout is fixed. Decisions about kitchen position, storage, lighting and joinery are cheaper to get right on paper than on site, and the interiors shape how the structural plan should work.

Can you help if we are not extending?

Yes. Many of our layout projects involve no structural work at all — reorganising furniture, storage and room use so the existing footprint works far better for the household.

Do you produce drawings?

Yes. We produce floor plans and elevations, plus joinery drawings where needed. 3D visuals are available to help you picture the space before work begins; an additional fee may apply.
