FAQs

Your questions, answered plainly

The things people most often ask us before starting a project. Can’t see yours? Call or email and we’ll reply within 48 hours.

Getting started

How do I start working with Born & Bred Studio?

Every project starts with our paid 2-hour design consultation. It’s a focused working session where we explore your goals, your space and how best to move forward. From there we shape a plan around your needs, whether that is a full renovation or furnishing a complete home.

How much does a design consultation cost?

Our 2-Hour Interior Design Consultation is £350 + VAT. It can take place in person or via Zoom, depending on your location and preference. You’ll come away with recommendations and a clearer sense of direction, though not a fully detailed room design. You can book online in a couple of minutes.

How much does a full interior design project cost?

Fees depend on the scope, size and stage of your project, so we don’t publish a fixed price. After the initial consultation we send an estimate proposal setting out budget, timescale and design fee for the next stage. We also present a range of price options for furniture and finishes.

Which areas of London do you cover?

We work across London, including Muswell Hill, Crouch End, Dartmouth Park, Kentish Town, Queen’s Park, Kensal Rise, Notting Hill, South Kensington, Bayswater, Fulham and Brixton, as well as Harrow and Upminster in Essex. Consultations are also available by Zoom, and project co-ordination is confirmed by location.

How we work

What is included in your full interior design service?

Brief and estimate, concept mood boards, spatial planning, material and fabric samples, a fully itemised FF&E sourcing list, plans, elevations and joinery drawings, then procurement, project co-ordination, regular site visits, installation and final styling. 3D visuals are available too, and an additional fee may apply for those.

What happens if I don’t like the first design concept?

Your feedback is part of the process. If the first concept isn’t right, we work on a second draft based on what you tell us. Once a design has been agreed, further changes or amendments are chargeable, which keeps the project moving and the budget predictable for everyone.

Are you a building contractor?

No. Born & Bred Studio provides interior design services and is not a general contractor. We recommend trusted trades, and you contract with those suppliers directly. We can co-ordinate them on your behalf, communicate the design, and visit site regularly to make sure the design intent is realised.

Can you work with our existing furniture and budget?

Yes. We design around the pieces you love, from family heirlooms to vintage finds, and never assume your price range. Clients regularly mention that we offered expensive and cheaper options for similar items so they could stretch or constrain their budget as needed.

Do you design children’s bedrooms and playrooms?

Yes, it’s one of our specialisms. We design nurseries, children’s bedrooms and playrooms that grow with your family: practical storage, durable materials and lots of personality. Our children’s rooms have featured in Living Etc and The New York Times, and children usually love being involved.

About the studio

Who is behind Born & Bred Studio?

The studio was founded by Lisa Mettis, a true Londoner with a first-class degree from Central Saint Martins and a former career in fashion with top British retailers. Lisa and the Born & Bred team bring that trained eye for style, detail and trends to every home they design.

Has Born & Bred Studio won any awards?

Yes. Our apartment at The Whiteley in Bayswater won Best Residential Apartment Over £1M at the SBID International Design Awards 2026. We have also been recognised by Houzz for Best in Design and Service for 12 consecutive years, and our work has appeared in Living Etc and The New York Times.
